What is Release Management

What is Release Management

Release Management is the process of delivering a set of authorized changes to IT services in a controlled environment. ServiceDesk Plus allows you to plan, build, test, and deploy releases to the production environment from the Release module.
For example, you can use release management to deploy hardware/software upgrades, implement processes, policies, and other components related to service operations.
The release process is closely associated with the change management process. You can create release requests for authorized changes or you can track a release request independent of the change.
Release management is supported only in IT Help Desk instances.
